MAMP headache on Mac
If you can’t figure out why the MySQL Server won’t turn on if you’re using MAMP to do local development work, here are two ways to go about it.
What worked for me
- Quit MAMP.
2. In the Finder, go to and delete the log files (in my case ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1).
3. Restart MAMP.
So I tried the below fix and kept getting
No matching processes were found
What others used that didn’t work for me
- Open Terminal (either open Spotlight (Cmd+Space) and type “terminal” or you can find Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/folder)
- Then type this (will allow you to kill the mysqld process with security privileges of another users such as root)
ps aux | grep mysql lsof -i sudo killall -9 mysqld
4. Restart MAMP
